Denosy® contains S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a precursor to the potent antioxidant Glutathione that protects hepatic cells from toxins and death. It is recommended to improve hepatic glutathione levels in patients to help maintain and protect liver function
3,4. Denosyl® may also be used in other areas of tissue oxidative injury caused by certain toxins or drugs which are related to reduced glutathione concentrations.
4 Denosy®, however, goes beyond increasing glutathione levels and has been shown to protect liver cells from cell death and may be useful in cell regeneration.

The Liver
肝臓は体の中で最も大きな臓器の一つで、生命維持に必要な多くの機能を果たしています。膨大な数のホルモン、酵素、タンパク質など、ペットの生命と健康に重要な物質を作る役割を果たしています。また、血流中の老廃物を排出可能な形に変え、解毒・除去します。この老廃物のろ過システムはとても重要で、取り除ききれない毒素は肝臓やほかの臓器の膜を傷つける可能性を引き起こします。肝臓の「解毒剤」として最も重要なのは、強力な抗酸化物質でもあり、肝臓の最初の防衛線でもあるグルタチオンです。
Antioxidant Therapy
犬猫の体内では、アデノシルメチオン（SAMe）からグルタチオンが生成されます。SAMeはペットの食事に含まれるアミノ酸のメチオニンから肝臓で自然に生成されます。肝臓の機能が低下すると、SAMeの生産量が減少し、その結果グルタチオンの量が減少します。1 この状況が肝機能を低下させます。様々な肝機能障害を持つ犬や猫を対象とした研究で、そのうちの多くが肝臓のグルタチオン濃度が低いことが報告されています。

When to Use
PAW Denosyl以下の様な肝疾患や機能障害の補助的な治療に使用されます。
- Chronic hepatitis
- Hepatic lipidosis
- Cholangiohepatitis
- Paracetamol toxicity
- コルチコステロイドの使用（注：コルチコステロイドによる肝空胞変化を防ぐことはできません）。
- Other acute or chronic hepatopathies, including hepatotoxins and neoplasia
Dosage & Administration
食事と一緒に与えると吸収率が下がります。食事の一時間前を目安にデノシルを与えることで、吸収率を最大限に高めることができます。錠剤を嫌がるペットの場合は、少量のウェットフードに埋め込むなどしてあげることをおすすめします。水を与える必要はありません。
錠剤やカプセルを猫にあげる場合、胃に届かず、のどに残留してしまう可能性があります。そのため、猫の場合、錠剤やカプセルを投与した直後、少量の水を与えることで飲み込みをうながしましょう。（詳細はかかりつけの獣医師にお尋ねください）
デノシルは有効成分を腸まで届け、働きかけるよう作られています。そのため、錠剤を割ったり、砕いて与えると、大切な有効成分が胃の中で分解されてしまいます。そのままの状態で投与するようにしましょう。（錠剤は特殊なコーティングを施され、腸内で働きかけるようできています）
The number of tablets can be gradually reduced or increased at any time depending on the pet's needs. When increasing or decreasing the dose, adjustments should be done in full tablet increments.
Many pets are maintained long-term on every-other-day or every-third-day administration.
